Resume
Writing Tip
Here are some tips to help you
write a winning resume. Determine
your objective. Determined your objective
then structure the content of your resume around
that objective. Without a clear objective in mind
your resume will likely be unfocused to those
that read it.
A
resume gets you an interview. There is no
need to get into extreme detail about everything
you have done. Be clear and concise and use the
resume to generate enough interest in you to have
an employer contact you for to set up an
interview. You can provide more detailed
descriptions of your experience at the inteview
to land a job offer.
Use
bullet points. Use bullets with short
sentences rather than long blocks of text in
paragraph format. Resumes are typically skimmed
through and bullets are easier for someone to
scan your resume and pick out key points.
Use
action verbs. Use bulleted sentences that
begin with action verbs.
Prioritize
your points. Since resumes are typically
skimmed over quickly at first make sure strong
points stand out.
Include
buzzwords. Include relvant keywords in
your resume.
Highlight
what you know. Give enough info to show
what you know but dont go into minute detail. You
can go over the detail during an interview.
Make
your resume easy to skim through. Leave
enough white space, use an appropriate font size,
etc.. Help the reader to pick out key info
easily.
Start
sending your resume to potential employers.
Your odds of landing a job increase with every
resume you submit.
