| Credit Checks by Employers Some employers make
credit checks a part of the sreening process. An
employer cannot view your credit report without
your written permission, but many will ask for
this at some point during the recruitment
process.
Your Credit
Counts!
Credit checks
are used as a character reference tool. A good
credit report suggests trustworthiness and
reliability while a poor report might suggest the
opposite. Iif your debt load is too high relative
to the salary a particular position pays the
hiring manager may wonder if you might not remain
in the position for very long.
Read Your
Report
You can request
to get a copy of your credit report to check now
for errors. Lawsuits, student loan defaults,
criminal convictions, and information reported
because of an application for more than $150,000
worth of credit or life insurance can all appear,
in addition to debts and payment histories.
Keep your credit
clean even after you get a job. Once you're
hired, an employer can choose to periodically
pull credit reports as long as you get notice
that this may happen.
