| Job hunting myths The best applicant
gets the job - The reality is that you need
a good resume that showcases your skills or else
you will not get noticed.
Job hunting
is a numbers game (the more resumes I send, the
better my chances) - The reality again is
that you need to be sending out quality resumes.
A good resume increases your chances and helps
you get a job quicker.
There are no
jobs out there for me - In reality roughly
20% of jobs turn over each year so even when
overall employment growth is flat, there are
still jobs out there. You just need to look
harder and be flexible.
Holidays are
a slow time for hiring - In reality the
holiday time is a good time to be send out
resumes because when other job seekers take time
off there is less competition. Companies have
jobs that can't wait to be filled, and
headhunters want their commissions so they too
will be working hard over the holiday period.
