Cover Letter General
Question
Are
cover letters important?
Absolutely! There are many good reason why you
should include one.
Without a cover memo, it is difficult to figure
out which position or location a job candidate is
interested in.
Some people expect to see them. A resume
unaccompanied by a cover letter may come across
to HR folks as an act of laziness.
Cover letters can give a hint of the personality,
the passion, the interests of the applicant, in
contrast to the boring facts of the resume.
With that said, cover letters should be very
brief. Long letters probably won't get read. The
cover letter is a way for candidates to emphasize
certain experiences, demonstrate writing skills,
and explain why they are interested in the
company.
