employment gaps resume - Acceptable Gaps
in Employment
Q. How much time is considered 'acceptable' to
find another job after being downsized? At what
point do potential employers ask, 'Why hasn't
anyone hired you so far?'
A. It takes time to find another position -
reasonably anywhere from three to nine months for
a management position. Typically, the higher the
position, the longer it takes. However anthing
more than a year, and prospective employers may
begin to wonder.
You of course probably want to get back to work
and making money as soon as possible. If your
search is taking longer than you feel it should a
year, consider getting someone to review your
resume and get some help with handling
interviews.
