Recent grads sometimes get
frustrated because they can’t get good jobs without experience but they can’t
get good experience without good jobs. Volunteering is a helpful
solution.
You have to pay your dues and work your
way up before you can start making a huge salary. You’re not going to be hired for a six figure salary job just because you just
completed a certification. You need some experience too.
Start with a list of non-profit
agencies and apply your skills by volunteering to help them.
- It gives you an
opportunity to apply what
you’ve learned in the classroom in 'real world' situations.
- You can
confidently tell an interviewer, “Yes, I have done that before.”
And as an additional benefit, you will
feel good about making a real difference and
helping others.
Don't forget to ask for referrals! If you do a good job the charity might
recommend you to others they know and this can lead to a paying job.
